What is AEE Accreditation?

Pathfinder Outdoor Education has been accredited by the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) since 1998 and remains the only accredited organization in Florida.

Accreditation involves a rigorous, voluntary review process that ensures
Pathfinder Outdoor Education is working to the maximum standards of safety, efficiency, and general best practices.

When an organization achieves AEE Accreditation, you can have confidence that the experts designate us as maintaining the highest industry standards.

Accreditation specifically includes:

  • Written and on-site evaluations of safety and risk management practices.
  • Documentation and review of all Pathfinder activities, such as
    • Staff training and evaluation
    • Curriculum methods and objectives
    • Equipment maintenance and use
    • Administrative practices including fiscal stability
    • Policies and procedures.
  • Extensive staff and Board member interviews.
  • On-going evaluation through reports, reviews and site visits.

Initial accreditation lasts three years; continuing accreditation is for five years.

About AEE
AEE began in the early 1970’s with a group of educators who knew that the core of learning is greatly enhanced by experiential forms of education. Since then, AEE has grown to include approximately 2000 members in over 35 countries. AEE's diverse membership consists of individuals and organizations with affiliations in education, recreation, outdoor adventure programming, mental health, youth service, physical education, management development training, corrections, programming for people with disabilities, and environmental education.

The vision of the Association for Experiential Education is to contribute to making a more just and compassionate world by transforming education. Visit www.aee.org for more information.

Pathfinder AEE accreditation will be renewed in November 2006.
